It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Shawnathon Alex Chase, beloved son of Shawn Chase and Zabida “Rochelle” Chase. He was a cherished brother to Kevin and Jason Sayersingh, and a treasured grandson of Eveline Chase, the late Desmond Bynoe of Barbados, and Farida and Wajid Ali of Guyana. Shawnathon was the beloved nephew of Angela Clarke, Ordeen Springer, Desmond “McClaren” Chase, Allan Harte, Juanita King, Lauriston Chase, Shameer, Imran, and Zaman Ali. He was also the godson of Katrina Alleyne. He leaves behind a host of loving cousins including Alana Clarke, Delisa Lashley, Stefan, Saaria and Shavon Springer, Julian, Jerold and Roziah Harte, Olga Gale, Marlon Legall, Natalie and Mary-Ellen Waterman, Lester King, Trevor, Neville and Kenrick Boucher, Marlene Croney, Tracey Chase, Natasha, Anasha, Meneo, Milissa, Zaheer, Inzaman, Amir, and Jarid Ali. He will be fondly remembered by the Chase and Gale families of Barbados and the Ali families of Guyana. Shawnathon’s vibrant spirit touched many lives. He was a loyal best friend to Lakaisha, Shameley, Rocalico, Anaiya, Tashara, Shadara, Kadarious, Justin, and Shamari from school; and Joel, Rasheed, Frank, Jamari, Donte, Nicholai, and Omari from his home community. He will be dearly missed by his classmates from the Class of 2023, fellow students of Class 2-3, and by the teachers and staff of Milton Lynch Primary School and The Lodge School, as well as by the residents of the Silver Hill community and many others whose lives he touched with kindness and joy. A Service of Celebration and Thanksgiving for the life of Shawnathon Alex Chase will be held on Wednesday, April 16th, 2025 at the Sir Garfield Sobers Sports Complex, Wildey, St. Michael. Tributes will begin at 11:30 a.m., followed by the service at 1:00 p.m. The cortege will then proceed to Coral Ridge Memorial Gardens for interment. Viewing of the body will take place on Tuesday, April 15th, 2025, at the New Silver Hill Seventh-Day Adventist Church from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Mourning colours are optional, however, the preferred attire is red. Students are kindly asked to attend in full uniform. Floral tributes may be sent to Keith Jones Funeral Home no later than 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday. May his memory live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
